A crossword solver for 7 letters
This is the Crossword Cracker solver set up for 7-letter answers. It's built for missing letters: there's one square for each letter of the word, so you can copy what's in your grid straight across. It searches 12,915 7-letter words and only ever shows ones that are the right length.
How to use it
- Type each letter you know into the square where it sits in the grid.
- Leave the other squares blank. Press the space bar to skip one.
- If you know a letter is in the word but not where, add it to Also contains. Letters you've ruled out go in Doesn't contain.
- Press Search. Use Copy link to save or share the result.
Seven letters: -ING words and Scrabble bonuses
1,174 of the 12,915 seven-letter words here end in -ING. If the clue describes something happening ("running", "making"), put I, N and G in the last three squares and see what's left.
Seven is also the number that matters in Scrabble: play all seven tiles in one go and you score a 50-point bonus. If you're starting from a rack of tiles rather than a grid, the Scrabble word finder or the anagram solver is the better tool.

Can it find a 7-letter word from my Scrabble tiles?

How many 7-letter words are there?
This solver's word list has 12,915 7-letter words, covering British, American, Australian and Canadian spellings. Other dictionaries give slightly different totals, depending on what they count as a word.
What if I don't know where any of the letters go?
Leave the squares empty and type the letters into "Also contains". You'll get every 7-letter word that has all of them, wherever they fall. "Doesn't contain" rules letters out.
What if I'm not sure how long the answer is?
Use the main crossword solver, which takes a pattern of any length. Or count the squares in the grid and pick the word finder for that length.
